Country Music Icon Jeannie Seely Passes Away at 85
Legendary country singer Jeannie Seely has died at the age of 85, her representative confirmed to PEOPLE. She passed away on Friday, August 1, at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee, following complications from an intestinal infection.
Seely had endured a challenging year in terms of health. Throughout 2025, she underwent several back surgeries to repair her vertebrae, faced two emergency abdominal operations, spent 11 days in the ICU, and battled pneumonia.
Her passing comes just months after the loss of her husband, Eugene Ward, who succumbed to cancer last December, marking a profoundly difficult period for her family and loved ones.
